This is the simplest type of puzzle to make, a good way to start. There is a link at the bottom of this page to go to a page that describes the tools that I use.
1. Find a pattern. Try searching “animal outline free”. See below for an example of an ankylosaurus with personal use allowed.

You are basically looking for an outline of something, an animal, etc. If you want to sell the puzzle, I’d recommend not using a copyright picture.

You can also try to make “3D” puzzles if you want to do some carving.
2. On a scrollsaw, cut out the outer edge and do any painting (such as the eyes of the gator).

Cut the pieces, being sure to “interlock” each cut so you can’t pull them apart. See here for information about fully-interlocking pieces.
