Welcome to the “Growing in Christ” Discipleship program.
This program was created for the Roseville Church, which is a church of the United Brethren in Roseville, Ontario, Canada.
It was created for our church but the contents are free for anyone to use.
In this unit, we will lay out the entire program, giving you an overview of all aspects of it.
Hopefully after seeing this overview, you will be wanting to continue with this program.
We believe strongly that as Christians, we need to be growing in Christ who has commissioned us to”
“… Make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that [Jesus has] commanded you.”
From Matthew 28
Jesus has promised us that He will be with us in this endeavour.
We at Roseville Church pray that this material with draw you closer to Christ and strengthen your Christian Walk.
What is Grow in Christ Discipleship?
What is Discipleship?

When someone comes to Christ (becomes a new Christian), there is then a need to grow in knowledge and wisdom. This is a process called Discipleship and it means:
- Becoming more like Christ
- Growing from Spiritual “Milk” to Spiritual “Meat” (Hebrews 5:13-14)
- To help us in our personal and group ministries to help build God’s Kingdom
- Meeting believers where they are at and helping them take steps toward a greater maturity in Christ
Optional Quiz
Why is Discipleship important?
Why do we need to Grow?

You can’t stay still! The Bible commands us to go out and make disciples of the whole world. We call this “The Great Commission”.
- Matthew 28:19 -20 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
- This is how souls are saved, the church grows and the Kingdom of God is built

Who is Grow in Christ Discipleship for?
This program has been developed to be flexible, based on where you are in your journey.
We are focusing on what we like to call “Disciples”, those who are Christian and who have an interest in Christian Growth.
Within this group, we may have new Believers and “Seasoned” experienced Believers. Some have a great deal of knowledge about their faith, some are just at the beginning of their Faith Journey.
Some like to learn on their own, some learn best in a group. Some like to watch videos, some like to read, some like to do with their hands.

There is also the idea of “Sacred Pathways” – different ways to approach and worship God (for example, some like to commune with God in Nature, some like lively worship, some like quiet contemplation).
There is also your Spiritual Gifts to consider. If your gifts are Preaching or Evangelism, you may want to focus on different areas than someone who’s gifts are Administration or Helps.

Finally, we are all “fearfully and wonderfully made” and have different temperaments and personalities and Learning Style preferences. Some like to study on their own, others thrive in groups. Some need to hear spoken words, some like to watch videos and some like to read.
Hopefully this program is for you and, if you are interested, we will help you determine a path that suits you.

What are the Principles that we will follow?

We respect these basic principles in this program:
- This basic model is underlying the program: Know Yourself, Know God, Grow Towards Christ, Become Disciple Makers
- We are created in God’s image and are children of God
- We are flawed but redeemed sinners
- Everyone is different – No “cookie cutter” approach
- The more we know about ourselves, the more effective this can be
- The approach should be flexible – done in community and / or individually
Optional Quiz
What are the Objectives of the Discipleship Program?
The Grow in Christ Discipleship program wants to do the following:

- Help you to know yourself better.
- Help you to know God better and grow towards Christ.
- Go and make more disciples.
The Learning Objectives of each unit is built around:

- Being – affecting who we are, our character
- Doing – putting into action what we have learned to help build God’s Kingdom
- Knowing – increasing our Knowledge of God and His Word in a way that helps us become better disciples and “make disciples of all nations” and to shape our character (that is, knowledge that helps us with the Being and Doing of becoming followers of Christ.
Knowledge without Doing is useless, Doing without Knowledge can take us in wrong directions. Neither Knowledge or Doing ultimately do us any good unless it impacts on our Character.
